ARGENTINA
On our way to Chile we hopped in Bariloche for two days, in order to make a break from all our unending bus trips across the Argentinean Patagonia.
This little village on the foothills of Andes is surrounded by lakes and mountains and is the main passage point to cross this cordillera since pre-European times. Indeed, its name originally meant "people from behind the mountain".
Nowadays Bariloche is most known as the main backpacker centre in South America, with its winter resorts full of snow in the cold season and all the extreme sports enthusiasts hitting the rocks, the mountains and the rivers during the rest of the year...
We had our share of adventure as well. We decided to go for a bike ride of 70 Km in the mountains, that was clearly a lot more demanding than we could ever imagine…
The ride offered us some awesome sceneries of lakes and mountains, although it was not able to cope with the level of El Chalten.
When we finally arrived back to the hostel we could not believe that we made it. We were extenuated! We awarded ourselves an overdose of the famous Bariloche chocolate by visiting the village’s super-popular chocolate supermarket. After this, our memories from the journey in Argentina could hardly be sweeter…
